The inaugural season sparked into life in September 2014 around the grounds of the Olympic Park in Beijing. Now in its sixth year, the 2019/2020 season sees a new capacity 12 team and 24 driver grid, competing in cities around the world fighting to be crowned the next Formula E champion.

Formula E is also a competitive platform to test and develop road-relevant technologies, acting as a catalyst for sustainable mobility solutions - helping refine the design and functionality of electric vehicle components and improving the driving experience for everyday road car users all over the world.

One of the great things about Formula E is that everything takes place in one day; practice, qualifying and the race. As well as the on-track action, drivers also compete in a number of fan related activities. From autograph sessions to the coveted E-Race, in which drivers who have qualified race fans on a virtual race, their day is a full one!

Formula E brings racing to the heart of the city centre, with tracks that weave through world-famous streets, fans just can’t get any closer to the action. From the streets of Paris to downtown Santiago. Formula E takes racing to the people.

Formula E is the only sport in the world that lets fans play an active role in influencing the outcome of the race. FANBOOST gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favourite driver and award them an extra boost of power during the race. The five drivers with the most FANBOOST votes are awarded a significant burst of power.

For this season, there's also the all-new ATTACK MODE. Available during the race, this unique feature sees drivers having to divert off the racing line at a designated area of the track. However, in return they’re awarded for an extra power boost (35kw) that they can use as they wish over the next few laps.

The details of ATTACK MODE - the number, duration and the minimum amount of times drivers can arm it - are decided by the FIA one hour before the race, meaning the teams and drivers only have 60 minutes to decide the race strategy, ushering in more uncertainty and unexpected action!
